Dante “Tater” Barksdale was a Baltimore legend. His family was the inspiration for the character of Avon Barksdale on the critically-acclaimed HBO series “The Wire.” Dante grew up in the projects, spent time in prison, and then devoted his life to stopping violence. His transformation into a peacemaker and nonviolent leader inspired a whole community.
